Thanks to everyone who came out to the Evanston lakefront yesterday to eat food and watch the fireworks show with me and Stacy and Charlie. I don't have a big family, so I like to round up my friends as my extended family on special occasions. Growing up, I loved the big family gatherings during the summers at campgrounds or lake houses. It was so much fun to play outside for literally the entire day. I want my kids to enjoy summer days like that with lots of friends, so don't expect me to stop the planning anytime soon.

Believe it or not, that is only the second time I have been to the lake since I started living in the city 9 years ago. I don't know why I take it for granted. Anyway, thanks for bringing us out there. I left feeling very relaxed and refreshed.

I only wish i had been more prepared for the cool lake air.

We were planning to come out and see you, but we got caught up in an afternoon tennis match, which led to grabbing a late dinner, and then watching a movie... So, we missed both you AND the fireworks. Silly us.
