Yesterday was the first day of summer and Stacy and I joined Stef and John and Co. and enjoyed it like it was the first day out of senior year. Overcast skies at Great America means no lines, no waiting. We rode Superman, V2, Deja Vu (first and last time), the Eagle, Raging Bull. We spent most of the afternoon at Hurricane Harbor, the water park, sliding down plastic pipes in inflated tubes. We had a too-strong daquiri at the beach? bar and listened to the “entertainment” singing BoDeans lyrics from his karaoke screen while playing the keytar. John, Ted, and I raced go-karts.

Yesterday was a perfect start to summer punctuated by a huge hot fudge waffle cone sundae with whipped cream and a cherry. I couldn't finish.

I'm never going to Great America again on a sunny day. Overcast and thunderstorm warnings is the only way to do it. It's like having the park rented on a private party.

What you had to say:

I can relate to how much fun you had. Ryan and I were bummed you two couldn't join us for our company excursion to Great America a while ago.... it wasn't just overcast, though, it was COLD. I wore gloves half the time. But that, plus its being my company's private event, made the lines so ridiculously short. We rode Superman twice in a row without getting back on line in between. Rode my favorite, Raging Bull, twice, the second time in the front car.
Then we took a "break," and Ryan whipped us around on the Teacup ride so fast that the room was still spinning rapidly for several minutes after we stopped. I laughed so hard I almost threw up.
Isn't it great?

The Eagle is my favorite - no fancy loops or twists, just a nice big drop at the beginning that makes your stomach feel like it's going to come out of your mouth. And your waffle cone experience reminded me of their marvelous funnel cakes. Mmmm!

Lisa, you should give Raging Bull a try next time you go. No upside down, really steep drops and a very smooth ride overall. Definitely my favorite roller coaster.

Tori, we really liked the Superman ride. We were going to go again at the end of the day, but I was pretty waterlogged and dizzy by that point, so I lost the motivation for a 2nd run.

This sounds like the best start to summer I've ever heard...! And I thought we were doing the Start of Summer justice by drinking umbrella-smoothies. Hmph.

suks being back at work, huh?

Yeah, I could definitely go for a few runs down the Wahoo Racers right about now.

I got indigestion just reading your descriptions. You will never have to worry about waiting behind me in line for a rollercoaster. We keep a healthy distance, sun or clouds.
