Did you fill out an NCAA bracket? Who is your Final Four? I have two entries; both have the predictable favorites Duke and UConn and the popular sleeper in Kansas. The only difference I have is Ohio St. in one and Boston College in another.
These picks were carefully devised within a matter of 10 minutes after skimming 2 articles on ESPN.
Mine are nearly the same as yours because I skimmed the same ESPN article. :) If I pick Air Force to win it all, maybe I can get my $5 back by coming in second to last (Dan did pick Wisconsin going all the way).
I have Texas, Gonzaga, North Carolina and Villanova in my Final 4. I did my picks basically as fast as I could write them on my sheet. By the time I got to them, 2 games were already over. I'm a little behind, but I knew if I didn't fill out a bracket, I wouldn't pay ANY attention to the tourney.
Wisconsin?!? That's bold, Dan!
I filled out four brackets . . . in less than 10 minutes. I don't know anything about college hoops, so I figured my only chance of winning the office pool was to submit more brackets than anyone else. The common thread in all is Villanova (one of my almae matres) in the Final Four. I can't even remember the others.
I filled out two brackets. I don't remember who my final four are, but my office mates tell me that as of last night I was tied for second place. The only thing I remember is that all the 12-seeds win their first games. Did that happen?
Both 12 seeds won last night. I remember reading something a couple years ago that at least one 12 seed wins the first round just about every year.
Probably bad luck to be ahead early, but I'm tied for first and second in my two pools. The articles I read were not about how good the teams were but about statistics. I picked all the 12 seeds for the reason you gave above. Also, 16 of the last 17 champions have had a McDonalds valuble player, and Gonzaga doesn't - so I didn't pick them. That kind of stuff.
I was in the lead too, for a few moments. Now that NC is out, I'm screwed. I had them losing to Duke in the finals. I have picked a number of upsets, though, so I am pleased with that!
I did a bracket with people at my ex-employer. because its only $3 and they're far away so I'll probably never have to pay up. I'm currently tied for fourth, but none of the others in the top four have their Final Four still alive. I've got 6 of my final 8 alive, so I have a chance.
I should have entered my pool in this office because the winner gets about $500 and there are prizes for second and third.
