Fucking Cicadas
Good for this guy he only has to deal with the bugs once every 17 years.

What you had to say:

Yeah, really. I watch these news reports for the last couple weeks and think, "big deal. They have no idea."

I totally remember the 17 year cicadas the last time they came through, when I was growing up in MD. You could kick a tree and start a rain shower of bugs. It is really insane.

eeeee, yeah. it's bad. they are everywhere! and they really are that stupid.

eeeee, yeah. it's bad. they are everywhere! and they really are that stupid. are there places where they come more often in those kind of numbers?

Stef, I don't know what the numbers are, but probably, the cicadas out east right now are much thicker than they ever are here. We get them every summer. I can't remember when they start coming out of the ground here, but my grandma (she called them locusts) used to say that from the first buzzing there would be seven more weeks of summer. I don't know if that's true, just a bit of trivia. Anyway, I've had them chase me while riding my bike, fly into the house when the front door gets opened, and fly into my hair.

when i was 4yrs old the other tomboy in the neighborhood and i used to collect the body shells they shed (along with dandelions) in butter dishes. not sure what the fun was in that...gross. a couple years later (by this time i had moved on to bringing home lizards, frogs, toads, catapillars, and crickets for pets- i had become much more refined) i saw a movie about a town being overun by locusts- gave me nightmares, big time.
