I bought my Cubs' Opening Day ticket at lunch in the form of a $15 radio from Circuit City. I won't be drinking a Bud in gusty, 40 degree weather, but the reception on this pocket Sony is phenomenal and I'm saving about $300.

If you haven't been paying attention, the Cubs are off to a 3-3 start, losing a series to the Reds and taking 2 of 3 in Atlanta. Kerry Wood dominated in the mid innings yesterday and the bats warmed late against hapless, former Cub Will Cunnane. Cubs won 10-2.

Greg Maddux is on the mound today, the first home game of this year 2 AD (After Dusty).

John was at Yakzies this morning shooting a harvey bit for WGN. The place was PACKED with people drinking at 6am! This is serious shiznit ch'all.

Even in lean Cub years (i.e. 99% of them since 1908), Yakzies is packed on opening day. WXRT does a live broadcast and its always a big deal. The difference being that this year EVERY home game is sold out. Definitely serious shiznit.

Skipped school today for Rockies opening day. not the same as the cubbies of course, but we did have beer-soaked brats, fresh bud light on tap at the rotter's, and a couple of lively games of beer pong.

Walked over to coors field and got 4 tix for $6 each. upper deck, in the sun. supposed temp was 49...felt like 72--short sleeves, jeans, peanuts and cracker jacks. i don't care if i ever go back.

after the win, we hung out on one of the rooftop bars: free beers from a friend's brother that works for budweiser. nice.

i'll be hung over tomorrow, but well worth it. i miss the cubbies, but this will do for the time being.

Sounds like a great time. Stace and I need to get out to Coors' field soon.
