I turned off the radio in the car this morning and and listened to Kimi Ga Suki, Matthew Sweet's latest record. A morning drive without last night's sports scores, news on gay marriage amendments, and reports from Iraq is a better beginning. I'm wearing sunshine armor today and you can't dent it.

I say this despite knowing that bad news is headed my way. I can't speak of it, but no need for alarm. Today is one of those nondescript days I might remember several years from now. I hope so.


My dad is retiring on friday. 55 years old, collecting 80% of his salary for the rest of his life and he can fish everyday. I wonder what he's going to do next week. (Aside from helping me install new light fixtures in our bathroom) Maybe he'll feel like Inigo Montoya after exacting revenge upon Count Rugen.

Iņigo: Is very strange. I have been in the revenge business so long, now that it's over, I don't know what to do with the rest of my life.

Westley: Have you ever considered piracy? You'd make a wonderful Dread Pirate Roberts.
