As usual at this time of year, I'm ignoring MLB news, hoping I don't get sucked in again. Well, that's not completely true: I keep track of the ridiculous gap between the Yankees' payroll and the rest of the league (http://espn.go.com/mlb/news/2003/0721/1583823.html). When I kid myself that I'm a fan of The Game and don't just root for Chicago teams as they battle their owners and a system that's stacked against them, MLB poops in my begonias.
