The new Chicago Card Plus is everything the disposable CTA transit cards should have been in the first place.

Reloads its balance from a credit card just like the I-Pass. Whenever you go under $10, it adds the preset amount to the balance.
If you lose the card, the money you put on it is protected. The card will not expire.
No need to take it out of your wallet to use. The scanner can pick up the card by moving your wallet near the sensor.
Resume the 10% bonus plan for every $10 of balance added.

The CTA is waiving the $5 cost through March 31.

My only complaint is that I won't be able to use it more. I have to drive to work.

Two friends of mine just got back from a vacation to Hong Kong and have been raving about their subway system. Apparently the passes are so strong that the machine can detect you have one on you -- even if it's buried in your purse. Hope the CTA is planning something like this!
