The Shins performed live on KCRW's "Morning Becomes Eclectic" today. Nothing happens on the webcast that is going to convince me to buy tickets to their show at House of Blues this saturday, but I will keep playing both of their records over and over. James Mercer writes unbelievable melodies -- and he looks like a young Kenny Loggins.
The Shins were in LA after performing at All Tomorrow's Parties. Matt Groening chose a lineup for the event that was right up my alley. This is one of the few times you'll hear me say, "I wish I lived in LA." Built to Spill, Modest Mouse, Spoon, The Shins, John Wesley Harding, Mike Watt, and Iggy & The Stooges. Yes, please.
More info on their new record, Chutes Too Narrow. More info on an aging Kenny Loggins. You can listen to KCRW's online music stream, here.
Thanks for the webcast link, Dan.
