What's an earworm?

"Earworm" is the term coined by University of Cincinnati marketing professor James Kellaris for the usually unwelcome songs that get stuck in people's heads.
My #1 earworm is Cher's "Believe". Shameful and awful, but it just won't go away once it's in my head. And now that I brought it up, I'm certain to have it in my head all afternoon.

Overpaid - Term coined by me for University of Cincinnati professors who take three years to come up with the term "earworm."

Incidentally, mine is "One Week" by Barenaked Ladies. Drives me nuts...damn Canadians.

I share a couple of these same ones - Cher and the hole in the bucket song (maybe it is contagious?). I have a lot - another that comes to mind is La Bamba. :)

Maybe it's the ghetto love in me but mine's "damn it feels good to be a gangster" from the office space soundtrack...for some reason it comes to mind whenever there's a silent moment!
