I didn't know that the full title of The Talented Mr. Ripley was The Mysterious Yearning Secretive Sad Lonely Troubled Confused Loving Musical Gifted Intelligent Beautiful Tender Sensitive Haunted Passionate Talented Mr. Ripley. IMDB's page on the movie says so.

I guess they weren't convinced Matt Damon had a wide enough range to cover all of the descriptors. Or maybe they just figured it wouldn't make the movie suck any less.

Hey, I really liked "Purple Noon" -- the *first* film adaptation of the book. A French film, circa 1960.
